I can understand that some people may look like someone else, like how Gary Busey somewhat looks like Nick Nolte or how Zooey Deschanel kind of looks like Katy Perry, but I have never gotten them mixed up. But why is it that Caucasians can’t seem to tell the difference between Asians; maybe I’m being far to generalist. I mean it didn’t happen before I started this new role, nor has it happened in my working career prior to this, but in the past two weeks, it has.

I wonder if it really is a race thing, and we all think that at least someone in one race, can look like another of the same race; it surely can’t be case of them mistaking one person for every other person of the same race, can it?

It’s worked for me in the past, but I don’t know if that reasoning is applicable as time goes on. The more and more I act this way, the more and more I make lewd and crude comments, the more and more I become the caricature, rather that fronting as one. Sometimes I feel the need to act that way, and that’s how I am for the rest of the night.

It’s funny, it all started a while back, and it was just for laughs, but it feels like it’s a crutch these days, and without it, I can’t get around. In someways it feels like it’s a case of Batman and Bruce Wayne. Yes… indulge me for a second. In the beginning, it was a case of Bruce Wayne donning a mask to fight injustice, and bring down fear and retribution against those that do no good, in the guise of Batman. But as time goes on, it’s become Batman taking off the mask to act like a billionaire playboy in the guise of Bruce Wayne. At first it was an outlet, only now it has consumed.

What a sad state of affairs it’s become.

I immediately look up, and I realise it’s a feminine’s voice. I look at her face, and judge her immediately. I’m not going to lie, I judge everything that I see; most times I don’t share my judgement with the rest of the world, but I judge. And I approve. She seems classy – I know it’s probably an incorrect assessment, with the feelings of infatuation clouding my judgement and eyesight. But for the time that I look at her, I approve, and I go back for some more, like a crack addict looking for the next hit.

I stop my iPod. I’m intrigued.

Surprisingly though, I was more drawn to her voice, and what she is saying. From what I could surmise she was talking about work. In most instances I don’t like talking about work, or listening to others talk about work, unless there’s a drama that’s unfolding, because I’ll be honest, I thrive on drama. But there was none of that. She was just recounting the difficulties she’s having, relearning how to do things, trying to break away from the bad habits learned from her previous employ.

I don’t know what it was, maybe it was her voice, or even the facial expressions that she was making, as she was talking, but I was entranced. I literally have never been that focused on what a feminine was saying, when it was relating to work. Maybe it was the choice of words that she was using to articulate the finer things of the issues being encountered. Maybe it was the inflections of her voice as she spoke that were mesmerising. Maybe it was the deep introspection that really drew me into her, as a person first and foremost; someone so critical of them self and self aware – it’s an endearing and attractive quality.

For rest of the train trip, there I sat, with my earphones in – with the iPod off. Sitting there feigning that I was listening to my music, but in reality eavesdropping, and absorbing everything she was saying. I tired to contain the fact that I was listening in on her conversation, but it was hard to hide the fact, because I looked her way every few minutes.

You might think I’m a creep. And you’re probably right. You might think I’m a soft cock for not asking her out. And you’re probably right. You might think I’m crazy leaving my earphones on with out music playing. And you’re probably right. But I don’t care about any of it – I am mesmerised.

When I left my most recent employer, I was quite certain that I was going to leave like the wind. The reasoning behind this is the fact that I think everyone comes and goes; sure we would like some to stay more than others, but in the end, we come and we go – nothing is permanent. I am just another cog in the machine, one that’s readily replaceable. So I was not going to leave an email, or my details to contact me.

But once I made this known, people were giving me grief. They were wanting me to leave my details so they could catch up with me in the future. So stupidly I wrote an email, and provided my details. It’s been four weeks since I wrote that…. and not one peep, other than from me.

Why does it always seem to go that people say they want to catch up with you, but they never end up doing so. Is it just something you say, because it’s just something you say? Like how you ask how someone is going, but you really don’t care how they’re going; it’s just something you say.

I haven’t received an email, or even a text to confirm my details, or even someone else giving me their details via those methods. Now don’t get me wrong, I really don’t care if I do or don’t keep in touch with most of these people. I’m more annoyed by the fact that I have gestured that I care, and now I have been effectively been slapped in the face.

This world is a game of who can care the less, and I’m currently losing, when really I should be the victor.

If you haven’t seen anything about this movie, I wouldn’t blame you. I don’t think I’ve seen much advertising for this movie, other than the trailer that my friend had forwarded onto me. I guess that’s the problem of not watching a lot of television these days; you’re not bombarded by ads to see movies. Having said that though, I don’t think I’ve seen a lot of street advertising either, probably because the budget for this movie was so low, there wasn’t much left for the marketing of it.

Anyhow, I was impressed by the whole movie. Sure there are some shortcomings of it, but overall I was really impressed of how the movie progressed. The movie is about a bunch of teenagers acquiring telekinetic powers, and seeing how they deal with them. I found most of the movie quite grounded, because rather than the teenagers helping the greater good, they use it to play practical jokes, and for kicks; let’s be honest, how many of you would be responsible with your new found powers?

Some of the special effects were a bit shoddy, but for the most part, it was done quite well – towards the end of the movie where their powers are being used to the full extent, really showcased what you could do on a limited budget, in terms of special effects.

The acting in this movie was quite phenomenal. I don’t think I’ve seen any of these actors anywhere before, and that’s probably what added to the charm and excitement of the movie. Sometimes unknown actors really get you involved with the movie itself, because you’re not starstruck with the big name celebrities. Sometimes I think big movie studios take the easy way out, with using big name movie stars, to compensate for a weak movie.

I must warn you that the movie is shot something like the Blair Witch Project; some of it is handy cam, while others is from a CCTV camera.

If you like superheroes, teenage coming of age movies, or Akira, yep Akira, the Japanese manga and anime, then you have to watch this movie. If you’re an emo, you have to watch this movie. It’s a great spectacle; plus it makes you think what you would do in that situation.

I’ve heard many outrageous stories of his diva behaviour on stage. Most lately I heard that he booted someone out of a concert, during the Watch The Throne tour in the states, because one of the concert goers threw up a business card, or something of the sort – supposedly it was a safety hazard.

Anyhow, lucky for me, I did get to see a glimpse of it. He is known for being a perfectionist, and it was a sight to see him, when he stopped a song to restart it, because the lighting wasn’t right. I know people think he’s a diva, and he probably is, but I think it’s adds to the concert going experience.

From the start of the concert, right up until the end, it was a grand spectacle. Ballerinas running across the stage, and around in circles, pyrotechnics and laser shows were seen throughout the concert, and it was a sight to see.

You could really tell that everyone was having a great time, and that Kanye was lapping and living up every minute of it. If you looked around at any time during the concert, you could see pretty much all of the seated crowd, standing. Like how the cliche saying goes, you just had to be there, to understand it.

The song selection was expansive, ranging from each album, save for the Jay-Z collaboration, Watch The Throne. Kanye even dropped songs that he featured in, but wasn’t the main artist. The one that really stood out for me, was American Boy, which was by Estelle, but he dropped his 16 bars, and I lost my shit. It was crazy, or as Kanye would say, “That Shit Cray!”. The crowd was into each song, from the empowering tune of Power, to the sombre-ridden Say You Will.

Kanye West, call him whatever you like, but there’s no denying that he isn’t one of the best entertainers alive today.

I’ve described it before, where it’s not the fear of failing that really worries me, but the fear of actually achieving something that does. I guess that’s why I don’t have many long term love interests, because I would probably not know what to do, if the feminine ever said yes. The married variable, limits the possibility of the feminine saying ‘yes’.

On my last day at work, I was urged to have celebratory drinks. I decided to invite one of the married ladies at work along for it. Of late, I’ve been talking to her; I don’t know how it came about, but once I broke the ice, she was quite receptive to me, and our conversations – I would normally get stonewalled by females in the office.

The good thing about this feminine is the fact that she can dance. If there was something that I was looking for in a potential partner, the ability to dance, would probably be towards the top of the list. Crazy huh? Suffice to say, her and I have been talking about throwing down on the dance floor. I consider myself somewhat coordinated when it comes to dancing, and from all accounts she can’t bust a move.

Throughout the night, she was bopping away in her seat to the music. She was popping her chest out, like she was giving herself CPR, and as shallow as it sounds, I could not keep my eyes off of her jobblies bouncing up and down. What red blooded male could?!? So when I saw a chance to dance with her, I seized the day. Sure enough, it was only the two of us dancing, but who the hell cares? I sure didn’t.

So there we were, playfully dancing away together. At first that was enough, and given that she’s married, that’s probably as far as a normal person would take it. But like I’ve said many times before, I’m not normal. Next thing I knew, I was grinding with her. One of my hands held hers, our fingers intertwined. My other hand was on her toned stomach, rubbing and tracing her, as she moved. It was magic. It lasted longer than it should have, but it did end; she turned back around, and pushed me back a bit. She continued to dance.

She had the look in her eyes, that she wanted to dance off, so there we were, face to face, still partially grinding. I moved in closer; she didn’t move back. I moved in more, and the next thing I knew, I was literally an inch away from her – so much so that my vision started to blur. I was wearing contacts, and my vision only blurs when there’s something almost at the tip of my nose…

This happened for about half a minute, and during that time, she had a smile on her face. I’ve seen it before; my ex-girlfriend used to wear it when she was thinking, ‘I can’t believe I’m doing this, it’s so wrong but so right’. Right then and there, I thought, “I shouldn’t be doing this”. But I didn’t care. I think she came to her senses, and pushed me back, but it was a flirtatious push. I suppose that’s when I came to my senses, and started to shuffle away, back to the table.

Why is it that forbidden fruit, is so sweet?

I don’t know why I put off watching this movie for so long. I actually forget how long it’s been out in the cinemas. Suffice to say, I’m actually pretty happy that I ended up watching it. I remember watching the first outing of Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes, and I was quite impressed by it. Sure it was a departure of his usual fair that I was used to like Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrells, and Rock’n'Rolla, but that’s not to say that it was a turn for the worse.

The sequel was again helmed by Guy Ritchie, and starred Robert Downey Jr as the main protagonist, with support by Jude Law as Dr. Watson. From all accounts, I have heard that they have a good chemistry on screen, and if you would have to rely on those accounts, you would not falter. The choice in cast is fantastic, from the main actors, including Jared Harris (think Pryce from Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce in Mad Men) as James Moriarty, to Stephen Fry as Holmes’ brother.

The action is thick and fast, and if you have watched the first film, you’ll remember the styling’s carry over into this movie, including the decomposition of the fight scenes, to the selective super slow motion scenes. In most movies, you think that the action doesn’t flow, but it felt that it was organic.

The plot can be slightly confusing, but I don’t think it really detracts from the movie; just watching the banter between Holmes and Watson is well worth it. It’s a great movie, and although some scenes are quite far fetched, it makes it all the more entertaining.

What’s funny is that not all people are the same.

There is this guy at work that I see every now and again. We trade banter, but it’s more him making inappropriate jokes where ever possible. I get in on that talk, because I can hold my own. Some people cringe when I make a comment, or do something quite uncharacteristic of me, but it’s good that I can get a laugh out of it.

We were having lunch today, and the same old routine was being played out; he was making inappropriate jokes, and I was playing along with it all. Then he started having a go that I know kung fu, because apparently to all Caucasians, Asians know kung fu. Now I don’t get offended by it, because I have heard it many times before, so I play it up. The next thing I know, he moves onto jibing me with homoerotic comments, and suggestions about my sexuality. Again, I play along with it, because I’ve been dealt these cards so many times, I know how to play the game. I must admit, I cop a lot of shit from this guy, but it’s like water off of my back.

Next thing I know the topics of cycling come up in the conversation, and I was having a go at cyclists – not because I don’t like cyclists, but for the fact that I know that this guy is one. Next thing I know, he closed up real fast, and then the racial epithets about Asians come flying thick and fast, saying I have a small package, and all the usual jazz. And this was with a serious face, and tone.

Suffice to say that I shut up about the cycling. It’s funny; to think that I guy can be so offensive towards you, but can’t take any of it back. Smeagol would be proud! My Precious!

I don’t know who’s worse, him because he’s a massive bigot / hypocrite / sulk, or me because I let him off with everything that he says to me.

For the past two or so weeks, I have been catching a bus from my usual train station, to the adjacent one, because CityRail decided to conduct track work, over the supposed quite period of the year. I’m sure someone’s doing something, I mean why else would they shut down a block of the track line for no reason, but for the life of me I can’t see anything that would suggest work is being done.

Some days I’m lucky and I can rock up to the bus depot and manage to jag a seat on the bus, which is surprising because I’m at the last stop before the trains start working again, so by the time the bus does stop, it’s generally packed. Some days I have to wait for a bus or two to drive past because it literally is packed like a can of sardines. Today though, I managed to get on the bus – albeit I had to stand.

I don’t mind standing. What I do mind though is when the bus pulls up to the destination, and as I proceed to alight from the bus, someone who has been sitting down for who knows how long, think it’s okay to get up from their seat and push in front of me to alight before I do. What makes matters worse was the fact that not only did he push in front, but he held me up, because he was letting his girlfriend get out as well.

The freakin audacity!

I muttered to myself, but loud enough for him and those around me to hear, “Yeah, you have to let your girlfriend out too…”, without thinking of the ramifications of such a blatant remark. Most rational people avoid conflict, if they know they’re in the wrong; lucky for me, he complied to this assumption.

I know that there’s no handbook of bus behaviour, but come on, seriously. It’s an unwritten rule that standing patrons have right of way before seating patrons.

Sheesh, I think I’m getting too old, and am becoming an old grumpy man.
